- Robust Vietnamese coffee grounds (robusta beans), ice cubes
- Hot water, optional sugar
Quick-Made Recipe
- Place 20-25g coarsely ground dark-roast Vietnamese coffee in a traditional phin filter set over a glass filled with plenty of ice cubes (and optional sugar if desired).
- Pour a small amount of just-boiled water to bloom the grounds for 30 seconds, then slowly add the remaining hot water in stages for a controlled drip.
- Allow the strong black coffee to drip fully over the ice, taking 5–8 minutes for optimal extraction and immediate chilling.
- Once dripped, stir vigorously to melt some ice and blend flavours evenly.
- Sip slowly through a straw, enjoying the evolving intensity as the ice dilutes the boldness gently.
